I was wondering how much everyone’s wedding were!
I am getting married in a year and we are beginning our planning process..any advice you would like to give me would be wonderful! thanks
I just got married in March ’07. Estimate $15,000.
Suggestions:
*Don’t pay or take the time to make wedding programs – Hardly ANYONE took them.
*Take care of all the little tedious things 1st, the big things are easier to remember.
*Don’t ask anyone in your family/bridal party what they would do or what they want to do. This is your wedding & trust me, you will have your moments where you don’t want anyone’s opinion. Just remember THIS IS YOUR BIG DAY & try not to accommodate for anyone. It will only cause chouse!!!!
*Take into consideration of the location before you pick your dress. I bought a BEAUTIFUL dress w/ LOTS of tulle on the bottom, but it was an outside wedding. When I got there I immediately thought — I WISH I would have picked a different dress!!!! It was HOT, & it got grass all in it. Just think long & hard : )

i’ve always wanted a really wonderful wedding with all my family and friends, but now im in the real world both our families and ourselves are limited on money right now. what are some good money saving tips, but still be able to have a nice wedding.
Make your own invitations, RSVP cards, place cards, thank you cards and programs. This link is to a site I used, and all our paper and envelopes for all the items mentioned above were only cost $100. (We had less than 50 invitations to send out).

Think of going with silk flowers instead of real ones. Invite only the “must haves” to the wedding, you can spend more on the affair itself.
We had our wedding and reception at a restaurant, so we didn’t serve alcohol, if someone wanted a drink they went to the restaurant bar. We had champagne for the toast, and that was it.

Is the engagment ring traditionally more expensive, or cheaper than the wedding ring?
Why are there 2 rings (engagement and wedding) wouldnt that be extremely expensive?

A – The engagement ring is more expensive. Traditionally the man is supposed to spend 3 months salary on one, but that isn’t really done as much these days.

A – Most engagement rings & wedding bands can be bought in a set to save money & then the rings will also match. There doesn’t always have to be an engagement ring, but it’s just grown to be a custom. When people mention being engaged everyone always wants to see the engagement ring. The wedding band speaks for itself.

A – Guys can have an engagement ring too. It’s not tradition but it is becoming more popular lately. When I got engaged I bought my fiance a nice ring. Was nothing fancy cause it would just get damaged at work.

Usually the bride does buy the grooms ring. I think traditionally the grooms parents buy the wedding bands but not all traditional customs are followed thru on anymore.

Most of the time, yes. A lot of couples like to have matching rings therefore they’d shop together. But it can always be kept a surprise too.

Yes, thats a bridal set. Engagement rings come in all shapes & sizes these days so the wedding band is made to fit perfectly with it. My engagement ring is princess cut & the matching wedding band has a square groove in it to fit perfectly. My sisters wedding band is curved to fit in with her wavy styled engagement ring.

I’m planning my friends wedding and her cousin is a priest who they’d like to have conduct the vows.
They want a catholic wedding, one honored by the church, but they want to have a outdoor wedding as well. As Catholic’s are we allowed to be wed outside the church or does it need to be in a church in order to have your wedding blessed by the church?
In order for it to be a Catholic wedding and seen as a marriage by the Catholic church, you must be married in a Catholic church. Because of the strong stance the Catholic church has on weddings, your friend’s cousin will not be able to perform the ceremony or even appear there as a priest unless it is in a church.
I had some very dear friends of mine be excommunicated for “living in sin” because their marriage wasn’t performed in a church. They had it in a nondenominational chapel of a location that meant a great deal to them. It didn’t make any difference to the church. They were still considered to not be married.
Your friend needs to decide what is more important, an outdoor wedding, or a Catholic wedding.

I had my civil wedding ceremony almost 10 years ago. This summer after my husband gets back from deployment, were having our religious wedding ceremony. I can’t wait to wear my new wedding dress. So how long after your civil wedding did you have your religious wedding?

im having a destination wedding and when we get back we may have a blessing of some kind followed by a reception (its just a big party,whatever you call it!),this will be within a year of the actual wedding ceremony and its going to be a show with our photos on display and our wedding video shown as well
lots of couples are now opting for a second wedding on a special anniversary,so i think close to your 10th wedding anniversary would be brilliant – a lot of the time an eternity ring can be given at this time,or other piece of jewellery if so desired (or if an eternity ring has been given).while not leaglly recognised,some churches will issue a vow renewal certificate
i read a story about a couple who re-affirm their vows every couple of years – they say it makes them realise how much they have and remind them not to take each other for granted

My friend and his wife got married in Europe and my husband and I could not go to the wedding. They were at our wedding two years ago and I have no idea what is the appropriate wedding gift? Do I give them half of what they gave us since they did not have to pay for us at their wedding? Should I send a check or get a few remaining items from their registry? I don’t want to offend them but have no idea what I am supposed to spend, please help.
Just spend what you can and want to spend. A gift card or a check would suffice. Or, find their registry and get what is within your budget. I never looked at my gifts and thought “Wow, I’m offended that they didn’t spend more on me.” I was just very thankful.
My fiance and I are planning to have a courthouse wedding ceremony this May with close family and friends. Then a few days later we are planning to have a huge wedding reception for everyone to come and celebrate our union.
The problem is, I don’t know that “correct” words or phrase to use on the wedding reception invitations without sounding offensive to those who may have not been invited to the ceremony.
So, what is a good way to word my wedding reception invitations?
My suggestion would be something like “Please join us for a celebration of the (recent) marriage/union of [insert names].”

By the way, my fiance and I are planning to do much the same thing, so I know exactly how delicate the situation can be!
Personally I’ve never heard of this. But, with my wedding coming up and the details that apply to it, it is unreasonable to have a true wedding reception the day of or the day after or really, any time near the wedding at all.
We’re planning on a very unique destination wedding that only has immediate family attending, then, directly after the wedding we’re going on our honeymoon for quite a while, and by the time we get back and all set for the reception it will be around two months later.
At the reception there will be around 150 people or so attending. Has anyone heard of this happening before? And, is it acceptable?
Its a little strange. You can still do that but if you call it a reception you might be perceived as rude by your guests.

I’m not married but personally for me I think the checklist/timeline and the budget planner (theknot) are the most helpful. I don’t think online seating plans are particularly helpful lol I find it much more helpful to write/draw it all out. Inspiration boards are fun

Within the next few years, after my own wedding is over and we’ve moved into our new place, I’m determined to start my own event planning business after being an office event coordinator for a couple years now. I was wondering how you event/wedding planners starting your own business. I plan on stocking up on plenty of event planning business books (event planning for dummies, anyone?), but does anyone else have any advice for me? Where to begin? What’s most important?
